What is the latency to stream a 360 video?

Vahana VR takes approximately between 25ms and 35ms to stitch a single image.

This is very fast, and there is no added delay compared to standard, non-360 video workflow.

But delay with video streaming is often time quite long. This is just how video works on the Internet and this has nothing to do with the fact that the content is in 360.

To give an idea about the complete latency:

  • The approximate delay between camera to SDI TV connected to the SDI output of Vahana VR: 300 ms.
  • The approximate delay between camera to end user through a CDN: between 5 and 30 seconds, depending on the cache configuration of the CDN.
